The history of the house of Givenchy

In 1952 Hubert De Givenchy founded the house of Givenchy. Before this time the french born designer had worked with many prolific designers of the time. He worked under Elsa Schiaparelli and under Lucien Lelong he worked with Pierre Balmain and Christian Dior. During his reign at Givenchy, he clothed and friended some of the world's richest, most influencial people in the world. Many associate Hubert with his relationships with Audrey Hepburn, Jackie Kennedy, and Grace Kelly. Some of the world's biggest fashion icons today. Later under Hubert, the house would introduce a ready to wear line and a men's line.

In 1995, Hubert retired from fashion after a long and successful career. The house of Givenchy saw many young talent head its design position. John Galliano, Alexander McQueen, Julien Macdonald, and Ozwald Boateng have all worked there. The women's/Men's line are now designed both by Riccardo Tisci. Since his indoctrination, the lines have been well received by fans and critics alike.
